C# .NET Developer - Modern Applications



Location: Kings Hill, Kent (ME19)
Salary: £55K-£60K + good bens


Fast paced, rapidly expanding full lifecycle travel insurance provider. The in-house development team is responsible for delivering high quality software solutions against strict scheduled deadlines using the latest suite of technologies.

The Development Team split their time between working on existing and new software products. 80% of their time is dedicated to greenfield projects, offering opportunities for developers to learn and improve their skills with great learning tools like Pluralsight and encouraging them to attend webinars and conferences related to Software Development.

The senior developer will work in a collaborative and innovative environment where design and implementation are both pragmatic and creative. They have a small team of eight which will grow in number this year. They are looking for ideas and energy to help the team drive the Business forward with new Websites, Enterprise web applications, architecture and process tools. They need ideas and strategies to re-engineer backend systems, deliver mobile applications and create websites.

They have a technically agnostic approach to development which embraces C#, Python, IOS, Windows, OSX, Linux and F#, Mongo DB, SqlServer, MySQL and RabbitMQ.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand the importance of principles of good software design and development to produce software of the highest possible quality in the fastest possible time.
  • Follow the team’s Scrum process and coding conventions and standards.
  • Staying up to date with new trends and advancements in web development.
  • Maintain and improve the performance of existing software
  • Collaborate with the team in the design of new applications.
  • Recommend improvements to existing software programs as necessary.


Technical Skills and Qualifications Required:

  • Proven commercial experience (5 years+).
  • A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices.


Strong technical understanding of the following:

  • C#
  • HTML
  • JavaScript
  • CSS
  • Web services (Restful and SOAP)
  • Software Design Patterns
  • Database management, design and performance (MSSQL)
  • Internet Information Services


Desirable

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
  • RabbitMQ
  • In-depth understanding of Agile development methodologies
